Help to enhance and preserve Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge.

Your gift will work to maintain the refuge you love by establishing means to support priority projects.

$30,001 raised

$17,500 goal

We are no longer accepting donations on this campaign, but there are other ways for you to support us today!

What is the Innovation Fund?

You made it happen. An anonymous donor challenged us to raise our goal to $17,500. They said that if we reached it by the end of the year, they would give a $5,000 match towards The Innovation Fund. And they did!!! With your help, we will be able to start 2021 off KNOWING that we can help to support Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge in the new year. Thank you!

There's still time to make your donation count. Your tax deductible donation made through December 31, 2020 will be eligible for the 2020 tax year. Donate now!

The Innovation Fund is established as a means to support projects that foster collaboration for conservation with the idea of helping Friends of Ottawa NWR reach unprecedented levels of excellence, especially in the areas of land acquisition and restoration, public use projects, and youth services.

Your gift will work to maintain the refuge by establishing means to support refuge priorities like public access points, land and water trails, and intern stipends.

Through November 22, 2020, you had the opportunity to vote on which project you'd like to see as a priority for the coming year.

In January 2021, the Board of Directors will decide how the funds will be spent and communicate it back to you through our website, email, and letter of thanks.

Priority Projects

  • Fox Unit: Establishing Public Access and Hiking Trail (State Route 2, Oak Harbor, OH)
  • Marinewood Unit: Increasing Public Access and Hiking Trail (State Route 163, Port Clinton, OH)
  • Expanding Paddle Opportunities at one of 5 areas on refuge (Nehls Unit, Marinewood Unit, Upper & Lower Toussaint Units, Little Portage Unit)
  • Intern Stipend (adopting an intern or two for 2021)
  • Land Acquisition (supporting buying land to become part of Ottawa Refuge)

With your help we can harness the life-transforming power of nature by preserving Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge for future generations.

Like you, we are part of this community. With the help of good neighbors like you, we have been the keepers of the refuge since 1997. The refuge thrives today because of you. Please consider a gift to the Innovation Fund today.
